Healthy Digital Habits

Watch Together

Media can be a great source of togetherness. Children learn more about media when they share the experience with an adult. Exploring digital content together helps you, too. You can learn more about your child’s interests, start conversations about media and strengthen family relationships.

These tips can help you get started:

Schedule a movie night. Or, if your child likes to watch a streaming series, ask to join them for an episode or two. This can be a great way to talk about what they like and dislike. Put away phones so that everyone can be tuned into the show together.

Play games, use apps and watch videos together. Ask your kids to show you around their favorite game or video platform, what they built or saw and how they learned about it.

Co-viewing allows you to connect and discuss topics you might not have known how to bring up and helps kids make connections and see things from someone else’s perspective.
